Nailsea School

The new “Nailsea School” will be completely rebuilt with a new glass and modern design and the opening will result in the celebration of Nailsea School’s 50th year anniversary. This development is being built on nearby grounds to replace the current establishment.

The aim of the development is to transform teaching and learning through well designed buildings which provide inspirational environments for students, teachers and the local community. The facilities will include a cinema screen, lecture theatres, an internet cafe, 300-seater auditorium, an outdoor ecology zone and a host of sports facilities to accommodate more than 1,500 pupils in a state of the art environment including the latest technology.

The plan is for the school to be carbon neutral, as there will be solar panels and rain water harvesters. The development of the services for the new school has been influenced by a “Sustainable Building Services Strategy”, with this in mind the school is aiming to achieve a “BREEAM” assessment of “very good”.

MJN Colston have been appointed to Design and install mechanical, electrical and public health services. These include Biomass boilers and natural ventilation systems in some areas. The external works include solar powered lights incorporating solar PV cells and wind turbines.
